On 1st May 1971 Rainer Mauritz , with two employees, founded an import wholesale business in Las Palmas , Gran Canaria ( at 36 Luis Antunez Street). In the beginning some 80% of sales volume was importing French cigarettes and re-exporting them to Africa, the other 20%of the business was the importation of food products for a growing tourist market. |

In 1978, due to the prevailing political situation, Rainer Mauritz S.L. cut business ties with Africa, which meant that the company had to find new market opportunities.
This led in 1980, to us starting to import, among other things, barrels of beer, which has become the cornerstone of today´s Rainer Mauritz S.L. At the same time a technical division was formed and employee numbers grew. Later, in 1987 the company took over Warsteiner Tenerife S.A .in order to gain a presence in the Tenerife marketplace.
On 1st July 1994 Holger Mauritz joined the firm and a limited company was formed with both father and son sharing the rights and obligations which come with directorship. This transformation also took us into new business areas and expansion.Lack of space in Las Palmas and the complication of having several warehouses around the area led us, in the mid nineties to, build new premises near Gando (Las Palmas) airport ; at the Salinetas Industrial Estate.

We finally opened our new location, with a huge party on 1st May 1997.
Now in our new premises, we had another big change on 1st September 2000. Rainer Mauritz S.L. bought Alecan S.L., another known player in the Canarian marketplace. This acquisition doubled sales, staff, transport fleet and our client base.
On 1st May 2009 Gernot Mauritz joined the board of the company, again sharing in the rights and obligations of this family firm.
Now with more than three decades of excellent working relationships with both our clients and suppliers we hope to continue and improve along our, so far, successful business lines. These aims are shared by the directors of the company and by our fine and experienced working team .
